Sustaining a workplace injury can be completely devastating – not only are you suffering from the pain from the injury, but now you have to worry about how you’re going to pay your bills, provide for your family, or even where to start the claim process!  Your brain will be teeming with questions and you probably don’t even know where to begin.

The answer to those three uncertainties is the same for each: call me today and allow me to assist you every step of the way.  Many of my clients have no idea what to do after a workplace injury or illness, but you can’t go wrong if you heed this following advice:

1) Get medical attention right away.  Go to the doctor the very same day of your injury.  Do not delay.  The sooner you get comprehensive documentation of your injury from your healthcare provider, the better.

2) Notify your employer. Again, time is of the essence and a case has been won or lost based on how quickly a boss was notified of the employee’s injury of illness.  If you can notify them the same day of the injury, that would be best.

3) File your claim. Complete your “first report of injury” (FROI) quickly, as soon as the injury occurs.  I cannot emphasize enough how critical time is on all of this.  You can do this online or in person with a Managed Care Organization (MCO) to get the ball rolling and to get your claim number and informational packet.

The claim will be reviewed within 28 days by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC), and if it’s denied, you’ll get another 14 days to appeal.  It’s absolutely vital to make sure you give the BWC all information about you and your case, including your name, address, a description of your accident, your employer’s name, your workers’ comp policy number, any diagnosis from your doctor and supporting documentation, and any proof of your resulting disability.

You shouldn’t have to endure this alone.  I have been serving the Columbus, Ohio area for overy forty years to ensure that victims of workplace injuries and illnesses get the maximum financial restitution that they deserve.  I work on a contingency, so you don’t pay a single dime out of pocket, and if you don’t get compensation, I don’t get paid.  I’ll give you my personal cell phone number, so you can call me 24/7 with any questions you may have about your case.  Call me today at 1 (877) 614-9524 and trust that I’ll advocate tirelessly for you in your workers’ comp claim – and I’ll Make Them Pay!®
