Philips Respironics Recall of C-PAP, BiPAP and Ventilator Machines

In June 2021, Philips Respironics issued a recall for several of their breathing assist machines, including ventilators. Roughly 50 to 70 million Americans have breathing problems and sleep disorders, like sleep apnea, that require use of a C-PAP or BiPAP machine.

Currently, there have not been any deaths reported, but the issue is serious and dangerous. The issue, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is a problem with the sound abatement foam – the polyester blend polyurethane (PE-PUR) foam reduces vibration and sound of machine operation.

The PE-PUR Foam in these devices can actually break down and lead to toxic debris and chemicals entering the airway of the patient using the device for treatment. Philips has acknowledged that inhaling these chemicals can potentially cause immediate serious health issues and prolonged exposure can lead to even more damages over time.

If you or a loved one uses a C-PAP, BiPAP or ventilator and has suffered headaches, irritation, respiratory issues, inflammation – call me! If you use a Philips Respironics device and suffered exposure to chemicals and debris, call the Law Offices of Tim Misny right away. You may be entitled to compensation for your injuries.
